Canadian Airports Council Names
Director of Small
Airports
OTTAWA (Oct. 11, 2006) – The Canadian
Airports Council (CAC) today announced that it has named Mélanie Levac to the
position of director of small airports, in which she will represent the unique
needs of Canada’s small airports at the national airport association and
provide support to its Security Committee in her capacity as secretary to the
committee.
Ms. Levac comes to the CAC after serving in
a regulatory affairs role at the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority
(CATSA), where she provided regulatory interpretations for CATSA personnel and
represented the authority on stakeholder consultative committees.She also was charged with developing Security
Management System-friendly business practices.
Previously, Ms. Levac served in the
Aerodromes and Air Navigation branch of Transport Canada, where she was a safety
management specialist.In this role, she
had responsibility over safety-related regulations, including shepherding
proposed regulations through Canadian Aviation Regulatory Advisory Council
(CARAC) process. At Transport Canada,
her responsibilities also included the development and implementation of Safety
Management System (SMS) regulatory material for airports.
“Mélanie Levac brings to the Canadian
Airports Council additional experience in navigating the many regulatory
requirements that our members face,” said CAC President and CEO Jim
Facette.
A graduate of the University of Ottawa,
Ms. Levac has successfully completed numerous technical courses on safety and
security.
