Canada's airports represent cornerstones of the community.  They are domestic and international gateways, connecting Canadian communities with domestic and international opportunities for trade and tourism.

In the more than 15 years since control of airports was transferred from the federal government to locally-based airport authorities, the importance of Canada's airports to the community, the economy and to Canada have been firmly cemented.  After years of government control, the new airport authorities sought to "reach beyond" the narrow definition of an airport as simply a place for to land airplanes. 

Today, after $9.5 billion have been committed in infrastructure improvements at Canada's airports, they continue to "reach beyond" their important roles today.  As Canada's airports envision the needs of Canada tomorrow, they stand ready to work with the community and government to ensure that Canada's aviation system will continue to meet the needs of a vibrant country and globally-integrated economy.
