Canada’s
airports are active participants in the international community of airports
through the CAC’s association with Airports Council International (ACI).

ACI is the international association of the
worlds' airports. It is a nonprofit organization, the prime purpose of which
is to advance the interests of airports and to promote professional excellence
in airport management and operations.
ACI has 580 members who operate more than
1,647 airports in 175 countries and territories. In 2006, ACI members handled 4.4
billion passengers, 85.6 million metric tonnes of freight, and 72.2 million
aircraft movements.
ACI operates through a world body and five regions:
Through a partnership agreement between the Canadian Airports Council and ACI-North America, CAC members are members of ACI.
ACI has observer status with the International
Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and consultative status with the United
Nations' Economic and Social Council (UN/ECOSOC).
